After showing strong performances during the 2008 Le Mans Series and Le Mans 24 Hours with their brand new LMP2 Michelin-shod Lola B08/80 – Judd, SPEEDY RACING – TEAM SEBAH will extend their Le Mans Prototype assault during the 2009 season.
For 2009, the team will again run the Lola B08/80 – Judd in the LMP2 class to target the LMP2 crown in their second year in the category. The Lola B08/80 – Judd will race in 2009 as an improved package with the team having started an intensive development programme as soon as the Le Mans Series ended. The team’s technical partners are also working hard to improve the car for next season.
SPEEDY RACING – TEAM SEBAH will also run an LMP1 Lola B08/60 – Aston Martin alongside the LMP2 car. The team’s objective is to be the fastest petrol-engined LMP1 in 2009.
The team had discussed offers from other manufacturers, but the choice of the Lola B08/60 – Aston Martin quickly appeared to be the best opportunity. During 2008, the team proved that the Lola B08 chassis is a quick one and they will use the knowledge and experience gained in that maiden season as they push to achieve their 2009 objectives. The Aston Martin V12 unit has already proven that it has the performance and endurance in the LMP1 category, this package should be competitive enough in 2009 to challenge for the podium at both Le Mans 24 Hours and Le Mans Series.
The team decided to move to LMP1 two years before it was initially scheduled to do so, in order to catch “the opportunities created with the new A.C.O. regulations” announced for 2009 and 2011. SPEEDY RACING – TEAM SEBAH believe in the future of “Le Mans” races, so it is never to soon to be well prepared for the next generation LMP1.
The team will unveil their driver line-ups for 2009 season in the near future.
That is awesome news for speedy racing-Team Sebah with Lola for the 2009 season, So, does that mean two Lola Aston Martin Prototpyes.
Very well funded outfit. They’re not hurting for cash at all.
And what about their GT2 program with Spyker? Will they continue that also?
Would be nice to see Speedy in LMP1, LPM2 and GT2
It’s very interesting. We all know GT1 is pretty much dead, and especially after next year. I guess Asotn Martin Racing/Prodrive are getting there feet wet, by also doing some racing parterships with LMP1 teams.
Because I think after next year, they are going to move to the LMP1 Class in 2010.
Great news! The best looking prototype on the grid gets a twin!
