Day two of the Sebring Winter Test ended with another Acura 1-2-3 as the second session of the day ended at 4:20 pm Florida time. Today thirteen cars used the four hours of track time available for the American Le Mans Series. Acura improved yesterday’s fastest time during the session.
At 8:00 am the track went green for the first two hour session for all classes. Both Acura ARX 02a cars were out on the track, the de Ferran Motorsports car completing 21 laps and the Patrón Highcroft Racing car completing 11 laps. At the end of the session it was the #66 de Ferran/Pagenaud driven Acura that had posted the fastest lap time in 1:44.814, quicker than yesterdays fastest time. The Lowe’s Fernandez Racing LMP2 Acura was second quickest.
In GT2 it was Porsche time with the first four all 997 GT3 RSRs. The #45 Flying Lizard car was the quickest ahead of the #87 Farnbacher Loles car and the #44 Lizards Porsche.
In the second session which started at 2:10 pm the fastest lap time of session four was not improved but once again the de Ferrand Motorsports Acura was the quickest of the cars out on the track. Both Acura ARX 02a’s did 41 laps, both set their fastest lap in their 33rd lap.
The Panoz Esperante surprised in GT2, setting the fastest lap time of the session, just over a tenth of a second quicker than the first of five Porsche 997 GT3 RSRs. VICI Racing joined the pack in session five, the Porsche being driven by Richard Westbrook, Marc Basseng and Nicky Pastorelli.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the third and final day of the Sebring Winter Test will be held and it is then when we should see the Dyson Racing Lola B08/86 Mazda on the track.

Wonder if the M3 and GT-R will make an appearence at the main event..
Where is Team Falken Tire? What tires were Vici Racing using? That Panoz is fast.
The GT-R, being 4WD, can not compete in ALMS.
He is talking about the Ford GT-R. the GT1 version of the R35 GTR is 2 wheel drive anyway.
My guess is that VICI is using Michelin tires. Which would make sense since Flying Lizard is dropping back to two cars and FBL wasn’t able to put together the funding for its 2nd car. That means there’s a tire tech out of a job… Give him to Vici. What a difference TIRES make! Look where they are at and they are for sure a dark horse for podium finish since they have the same 997 everybody else has. As I understand it, they took delivery of a ‘09 car or has the ‘08 updated, that’s unclear.
Dunlop has some work to do, the M3’s are close, but they need to find a second or so. I guess Risi is testing privately near Houston instead of making the trip, they have tons of information and since the F430 is largely small changes, I guess they don’t feel the need to be here.
One more month to go and if everything holds together, Sebring on Speed and WTCC at Curitiba LIVE and in person!
