Quifel-ASM Team testing at Estoril

With all the action from the Sebring Winter Test in the last couple of days as well as the announcements by the Le Mans Series organisers and the ACO regarding the entries for 2009 the fact that Ginetta was testing with Quifel-ASM Team at Estoril almost went by unnoticed. Almost, as Nuno and Hugo Pereira (Estoril Race Photos) were there!

On January 27th and 28th Ginetta was at the Portuguese track together with Quifel-Team ASM to shake down the Portuguese squad’s brand new Ginetta-Zytek 09S. Olivier Pla and Miguel Pais do Amaral were present to drive the car they will use in the 2009 Le Mans Series season.

Unfortunately for Ginetta and Quifel-Team ASM the test was cut short to just one day as the weather on the Wednesday was too bad to drive with fog and heavy rain hampering the proceedings. On Tuesday however Pla and Amaral were able to drive the 2009-spec Zytek.

Nuno Pereira also spoke to Olivier Pla who confirmed the car was in its full 2009 specifications with a smaller rear wing, aerodynamic changes to compensate for the lack of downforce caused by the new, smaller, rear wing and all sorts of other changes. Even better news was that Quifel-ASM Team will be a semi-works team, which means the team has access to the latest evolutions of the car. The team will be running on Dunlop again, as it continues its development role for the British tyre manufacturer.
