Dyson Racing Announces Driver Line-Up for 2009

The debut of Dyson Racing’s two new Mazda-powered Lola B09/86 coupes at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 21st will feature the strength of continuity behind the wheel. All four of last year’s drivers will return for the 2009 American Le Mans season. Chris Dyson and Guy Smith will pair in the #16 BP Dyson Racing Mazda entry and Butch Leitzinger and Marino Franchiiti will pilot the #20 car.[...]

Kolles plans Le Mans Series with Audi R10 TDI

The successful Audi R10 TDI is likely to appear again on European race tracks in 2009. While Audi will contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of its factory commitment with the new R15 TDI in 2009, Dr Colin Kolles is planning to buy two Audi R10 TDI cars for his racing team. The privately fielded prototypes are planned to return to the venues of their greatest exploits in 2009: to the European-based Le Mans Series and to the 24-hour race at Le Mans, in which the Audi R10 TDI has not been beaten so far.[...]

Strakka Racing confirms move into LMP1

Silverstone-based Strakka Racing has confirmed an agreement with Ginetta-Zytek that will see the team competing in the Le Mans Series this season with a Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S LMP1 chassis. The deal came about following a very successful track test in Spain towards the end of November, and means that Strakka’s regular driver pairing of Peter Hardman and Nick Leventis will be moving up into the top level of sportscar and endurance racing.[...]

Team Modena Announce Mansell for 2009

Team Modena are delighted to today announce that Leo Mansell, son of 1992 Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell, will be one of the drivers in the team’s LM GT2 Ferrari 430GT for the 2009 Le Mans Series – and the Le Mans 24-Hour race itself. Leo will share the new car with team regular Antonio Garcia, one of the world’s leading GT drivers, with Nigel himself lending his experience from a lengthy and successful race career to the team’s cause.[...]

Full Speed Racing set to join Le Mans Series grid

Full Speed Racing is set to join the Le Mans Series grid in 2009 after the team confirmed they have applied to enter a GT1 Saleen S7R in the full championship. The new squad, owned by an American car collector, will be led by Graham Nash’s NCK Motorsport and are hoping to gain an invite to race in the Le Mans 24 Hours in June. They also have a second Saleen which they are considering running in the FIA GT Championship.[...]
