CRS Racing confirmed today that the team has entered two cars into both the FIA GT and FIA GT3 Championships. Alongside the Formula Renault UK Championship, this completes CRS’ race programme for 2009.

The FIA GT driver line-up has already been confirmed as Chris Niarchos, Andrew Kirkaldy, Rob Bell and Tim Mullen; and the FIA GT3 pairings will be announced in a few days’ time.

The team will not compete in the British GT Championship in 2009. This is a decision that has not been taken lightly by the reigning British Team Champions.

“Both Andrew and I are huge fans of the British GT Championship,” said CRS Team Principal, Chris Niarchos. “We’re both past Champions and it’s where I personally really learnt to race. Having said that CRS is a commercial racing team and sometimes tough decisions have to be made. In 2009 the FIA GT3 Championship is the right choice for CRS but that doesn’t mean we won’t return to the British series in the future.”

CRS’ FIA GT and FIA GT3 teams will be on track at Paul Ricard on 6/7 April for the series media day and test.

“We think we have a great season ahead of us this year,” said Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy. “We have some fantastic drivers and the team itself has a full season behind it; we know our strengths and weaknesses and we can’t wait to start our second year of racing.”

  1. Why no British GT? Not enough tv coverage?
