24 Hours of Le Mans

Peter Kox replaces Miguel Ramos at AMR

After losing his Le Mans drive when IPB Spartak Racing withdrew their entry it looked certain that Peter Kox was forced to sit out this years race. That was until today when he showed up at the Aston Martin Racing test in Monza and joined the team for testing.

Planetlemans has learned that Peter Kox is set to replace Miguel Ramos in the line up for Le Mans, an official announcement from Aston Martin Racing is expected shortly. The announcement does not come as a suprise though, as Kox is Prodrive regular, racing for them at Le Mans before in their Ferrari 550 Maranello as well as the Aston Martin DBR9.

More details will most certainly follow…

  1. Ramos must be disappointing in testing and in the two races thus far.

    Interesting

Good on Kox, he’s not a presently employed Prodrive driver, he does have experience with Prodive however and was able to get a drive.

Hopefully we’ll see Peter and the rest of the gang at Petit Le Mans….

  2. Peter was a regular Prodrive driver since its touring car days, then Ferrari 550 maranello era. A good touring car driver turned GT racer, Peter has played a key role in the early days of Prodrive’s Aston Martin DBR9 effort in 2005. Glad to see Peter return to Aston Martin Racing.

  4. I have a feeling AMR will run Peter Kox and Jos Verstappen with Harold Primat in the 009 car. Not wanting to second guess AMR but I think their driver line ups will be:
    007 AMR GBR – Turner/Davidson/Hall
    008 AMR CZE – Enge/Charouz/Mücke
    009 AMR GBR – Verstappen/Kox/Primat

They seem so me to be strong driver line ups… I will be interesting to see how AMR pair the drivers up to the cars…

Roll on two weeks! See you there!!

  5. Yea pretty good line up for Le Mans. There best car is the 008. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. Just keep the cars out the pits as much as possible during the race, and they should get a good finish….

  6. I think a stronger driver line up in 007 would be Turner/Davidson/Kox

  7. Really great news. Have Verstappen and Kox ever worked together somewhere? How are they together?
    I mean,Verstappen is a fast driver,but renown for his bad peopleskills…

  8. The guys at Van Merksteijn Motorsport seem to disagree with you GTfour.

  9. A few friends who bumped into him at a kart track would also disagree with GTfour, if i remember correctly you were the one going around calling him a crasher the other day?

  11. Although AMR hasn’t officially announced their line-up AFAIK,
according to the entry list at lemans.org it will be:

    007 – J.CHAROUZ / T.ENGE / ST.MUCKE
    008 – A.DAVIDSON / D.TURNER / J.VERSTAPPEN
    009 – ST.HALL / H.PRIMAT / P.KOX

I think the 008 will be the top challenger.

  12. I agree, the 008 looks like the one for me – depending on which chassis they have.

I think Enge will have to ensure the ‘red mist’ doesn’t come down when trying to compete with the quicker diesel’s. I certainly wouldn’t let him start the race!

I’ll be cheering for the underdogs in the Aston though…

  13. No official announcement…. 1 wrecked car… maybe they are reconsidering….

  14. Ref: Go AMR – how does which chassis is used have a bearing on how successful the car will be at Le Mans? If a chassis was anything other than race-fit it wouldn’t be used, so surely one must therefor assume that any chassis used is as capable as the next?

As for HD’s comment, you underestimate the British spirit – reconsidering, i doubt it!!!!

    Go AMR!
