Team Modena today announce the third driver of their 2009 Le Mans 24-Hours line-up – with experienced Russian GT racer Roman Rusinov joining Leo Mansell and Pierre Ehret in the team’s LM GT2 category Ferrari 430 GT. A Le Mans Series GT2 champion in a Ferrari in 2004, Roman further strengthens an already impressive driving squad ahead of the June race.

“I’m very happy to become a part of Team Modena for the 77th edition of 24 -Hours of Le Mans,” said 27-year-old Roman. “I sure that we can do a good job and be at the finish of this legendary race. Last time when I was racing for Ferrari I won Le Mans Series championship, so I’m quite exited to drive with Ferrari again.”

Team Modena have never failed to get a car to the end of the race, and this year will be looking for not only a finish but also for a strong result given the undoubted pace of the Ferrari. The car is one of ten Ferrari 430 GTs entered, and it thus fitting that the race will be started by Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, current President of Ferrari and the Fiat Group, on Saturday, 13th June at 3.00 p.m.

  1. Their DBR9 must be the most valuable DBR9, given that of all of them it has done the most races, so the most experienced.

Too bad Prodrive stopped offering tech support for such a great car. I guess because it was a Ford backed program.

  2. No it wasn’t…. Prodrive backed the cars development and tech support. Aston Martin only gave them permission to use the styling, the engine block and gave them some CAD designs to help them build the car.

Otherwise the car is 100% Prodrive designed and built, period.

How or Why would they continue support for a dying class of racecar? They want to win Le Mans, even though they don’t stand much of a chance this time out, but never the less you can’t afford to continue spending money on development parts when none of your top teams or the factory team is not entering.

This is pretty much Corvette Racings race to LOOSE, if they loose it LLH and his team, they should be ashamed of themselves.

GM should have shelved this project at the end of last season and gone straight to GT2 where they will NOT have it there way.

By 2010, you’ll have an evolution M3, successor to the F430 and a continually improved 997 GT3. Also don’t be shocked if there are 2-3 more Ferraris and 4 BMW’s on the grid next season. Hard to win a race when your out numbered by the competition…

  3. The top teams are not entering because Prodrive is not supporting them.

They had a 3 year contract with BMS and Larbre. After that those teams were on their own, so they decided to go their own way.

GT1 cars are a dying breed but they are still the greatest production based cars period. Very highly advanced considering they’re production based units. They’re easily recognizable. So are GT2s but GT1 being faster it’s more desirable.

Too bad a Zytek, Lola, or Creation prototype will set you back almost as much as a GT1 C6R or DBR9. Since the prototypes give you the chance to an overall victory the writing was on the wall.

But FIA GT is doing good because GT1 means overall victory.

No matter how many ferraris, or BMW, Corvette will find a way to get in the win column. When they roll out their GT2 challengers they will be racing the Porsches hard without regard to who is in the championship hunt. They’ll simply go for the top step.
