24 Hours of Le Mans

It’s Radio Le Mans with Pictures

Radio Show Limited is offering spectators at the 2009 Le Mans 24 hours another way to stay up to date with the race action. In a partnership with Kangaroo TV, the world leader in event TV broadcasting, listeners can combine the world renowned Radio Le Mans commentary with live TV coverage, on board cameras and crucially for endurance racing, live timing and scoring data.

“We’ve come up with the term ‘RadioVison’ for this type of broadcasting,” says Eve Hewitt, Managing Director of Radio Show Limited. “We already provide this service for ALMS qualifying and we had a fabulous world-wide response when we added our commentary to pictures from the Race of Champions at Wembley last year. What’s different is that this broadcast is aimed specifically at the spectators at trackside.”

Kangaroo TV Executive Vice-President (Corporate Development) Alain Charette says that the service takes the trackside experience to a new level. “Given the amount of information that can be accessed by armchair enthusiasts at home it seems odd that the real fans at the event were missing out. LMTV Mobile by Kangaroo TV™ is a unique lightweight handheld audio-video device that gives you mobile freedom. It provides you with the means to access leader boards sorted by class and to watch live video coverage including pit feeds and on-board cameras. Whether you are a regular at Le Mans or a first-time spectator, LMTV Mobile by Kangaroo TV™ puts you at the heart of the action.”

Kangaroo TV have been testing out the system for the last two years and Radio Show Limited have been involved form the start with members of the pit team among the first to experience the compact device. “It’s so easy to lose track of the class positions at Le Mans, even when we are working,” say Radio Le Mans Pit reporter Graham Tyler. “With LMTV Mobile by Kangaroo TV™ it takes me just a second to get up to date and make sure I’m at the right garage when the pit stops start.”

The new service is designed to run in conjunction with the ‘normal’ radio transmissions and Radio Le Mans is still available as a free-to-air service on 91.2FM for spectators with radios around the area of the Le Mans circuit. So at Le Mans 2009 there no need to be anything other than completely up to date.

The LMTV Mobile by Kangaroo TV™ units can be reserved online up to June 9th at www.kangaroo.tv but don’t worry as they will also be available to hire in the paddock village at the track.
