Total 24 Hours of Spa 2009 – Update 1

We’re just a month away from the Total 24 Hours of Spa, round four of the 2009 FIA GT Championship and driver line ups and teams are slowly becoming clear.
At PK Carsport regular drivers Anthony Kumpen and Mike Hezemans will be joined by two other experienced Corvette drivers. Kurt Mollekens (BEL) and Jos Menten (NED) will complete the #4 Corvette C6.R line up, making it a full Belgian-Dutch crew. Anthony Kumpen confirmed his two new team mates today and also confirmed the Corvette will have some the latest specifications.
“We immediately profit of the latest developments of Pratt & Miller. One of the factory cars had a technical problem at La Sarthe (Le Mans. We were immediately informed of the solution that was being developed. The enhanced part is already available. The GT1 that will start in Francorchamps at the end of July, will be entirely identical to the latest factory car.”
Gigawave MotorSport, running the Nissan Motorsport Nissan R35 GT-R in FIA GT, also confirmed its participation in the Total 24 Hours of Spa. The result of the FIA GT race at Oschersleben gave the team enough confidence to bring the new GT1 car to Belgium. In the Spa 24 Hours Michael Krumm and Darren Turner will be joined by British driver Anthony Davidson.
Around 40 cars are expected to join the Total 24 Hours of Spa this year. Next to the full season FIA GT Championship entries one-off entries from teams like IMSA Performance Matmut, James Watt Automotive and Chad Racing are expected.
As a result of other events in the centre of Spa the annual parade will not take place. Instead the fans will be able to meet the teams in the paddock area on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday and Friday access to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is free, while the stands around the circuit are free of charge all weekend long.

What happened in the center of Spa?
A music festival called Les Francofolies de Spa will take place between 17-21 July, ending late in the evening/early night. It is impossible to clear everything in time for the arrival on the cars the following day.

Please send me airfare from Texas to Amsterdam. I can round up the rest of the money I need to get to Francorchamps. I will buy beer…..LOL
