LMS 1000KM do Algarve – Free Practice 3 result

Bruno Senna posted the fastest lap time in the third free practice session this afternoon at a hot Portimão circuit. The final couple of minutes saw several teams improving lap times, but noone was capable of beating the Brazilian’s fastest time of 1:32.100

Under clear skies and a scorching sun the teams set out for Friday’s free practice session, the last session before tonight’s qualifying. Once again the Lola Aston Martins were unable to beat the Oreca and Pescarolo cars, but this time the Strakka Racing Zytek was also unable to do just that.

The Pescarolo 01 Judd of Jean-Christophe Boullion and Christophe Tinseau was second fastest this afternoon, less than a tenth of a second behind the #10 Team Oreca Matmut AIM car. The second Oreca of Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre was third fastest this session in 1:32.450.

While the two Lola Aston Martins were somewhat behind on pace the Kolles Audi seemed to have gained some. The #15 Audi R10 TDI of Christijan Albers, Christian Bakkerud and Giorgio Mondini finished the session in fourth place, less than half a second behind the Oreca.

In LMP2 it was Zytek time again as the Quifel ASM Team Ginetta Zytek 09S was again quickest around their home track, this time even beating the LMP1 Zytek. Second and third fastest in LMP2 were the Racing Box Lola’s #30 and #29. Both Lola’s were only separated by 0.016s of each other, but were almost two seconds behind the Zytek.

Team Modena was fastest in GT2. The #84 Ferrari F430 GT2 was almost two tenths quicker than the Team Felbermayr-Proton Porsche #77 and another half a second quicker than the second fastest Ferrari of JMW Motorsport.
