ALERT: Dutch race teams robbed of equipment!

Anyone offered suspiciously low priced spares and equipment or who is aware of any outfit that has had a sudden injection of high quality kit might want to let the local police know as a theft wave has struck several Dutch racing teams!

The weekend after the Total 24 Hours of Spa Dutch GT4 team KTG Racing was visited by thieves who stole almost everything, apart from the race car. Tools, wheels, tyres, televisions, communcation devices, HANS-systems, spare parts, oil etc. were taken from the team’s transporter

Unfortunately KTG was not the only team to be visited by the thieves as last night FOUR transporters were broken into on the premises of Jan Lammers’ and Davy Lemmens’ teams Racing Team Holland and Day V Tec. Apart from the two transporters from both teams the transporters of McGregor Coronel Racing and ETEC Racing were also targeted.

According to Davy Lemmens the thieves were experts. “The thieves knew precisely where to be and what they wanted to get. After what happened at KTG this doesn’t seem to be an isolated case. I think the people in the racing business will have to be alert and that we will probably not be the last ones.”

During the theft last night the thieves clearly showed their knowledge. Five transporters were parked at the workshops and four of them were broken into and ‘emptied’. The fifth one, that was not touched, had not been used and was therefore empty.

In the latest theft the thieves took off with brake discs and pads, set-up banks, scales, many flat screens, radio sets and other communication devices, DVD players and amplifiers. “The thieves knew exactly what they did”, says Lemmens. They have even neatly removed the built-in flat screens by taking their time and unscrewing all the screws from the flight cases. This can only have been done by people who have prepared it well in advance.”

If you have any insights to these thefts, or the subsequent attempted sales of the stolen goods, please contact your local police or directly with the teams or Dutch GT4 organisers:

  1. I really hope that those thieves will be quickly arrested and the poor teams will have at least some of their “expensive” equipements, thats a shame, hope that the series will move on, being succesful until now

  2. Damn times must be really tough, if people do these types of things….lol

But I do hope the police find the suspects. If they are race fans, or part of any racing team. I would banned them from any racing event.

Je déteste les personnes qui volent!!
