The Pescarolo Sport team was quickest again in the second session at Silverstone this afternoon. Jean-Christophe Boullion was the quickest driver out on the track setting a 1:35.096 in the final minutes of the session, with several drivers improving their times in those last minutes.
For most of the session the #15 Kolles Audi R10 TDI, driven by Christijan Albers, was quickest, but as the clock nearly showed six o’ clock his time was beaten by the Pescarolo driver and the Audi finished the session in second place at exactly three tenths of a second. Danny Watts in the Strakka Racing Zytek 09S managed to take third place in the final minutes, his lap time some six tenths of a second slower than the Pescarolo.
The three Aston Martin Racing cars were seventh, eighth and ninth.
Quifel ASM Team again clearly showed its capabilities, with the Zytek 09S in fourth place overall and first in LMP2. The nearest LMP2 car was the RML Lola, almost two and a half seconds behind in 12th overall. The #35 OAK Racing Pescarolo Mazda was third fastest in class, another six tenths behind.
In the GT1 class it was the Saleen S7R of Larbre Competition again, four tenths of a second clear of the Aston Martin DBR9 of Gigawave Motorsport.
Team Felbermayr-Proton set the fastest time in the GT2 class, the gap to the Team Modena Ferrari only two tenths of a second. IMSA Performance Matmut was third fatest, half a second behind the German Porsche. Again the Vantage posted a fourth fastest time, with the JMW Motorsport Ferrari down in fifth.
Tomorrow the teams will have one other free practice session and then it is time for qualifying.
