After some puzzling and checking the Asian Le Mans Series regulations the final standings of the 2009 Asian Le Mans Series were confirmed at 3.30 pm Okayama time. Sora Racing, OAK Racing, JLOC and Hankook-Team Farnbacher can put these titles on their record list and will also be invited for the Le Mans 24 Hours (but more on that later…)
Having won the first race and scoring a second place in the second round it was already certain that Sora Racing secured the 2009 Asian Le Mans Series LMP1 title. Aston Martin Racing finishes second in the LMP1 class, three points less than the French squad. A protest that was made against yesterday’s race result (the third place Audi had a broken louver), but even if Aston Martin Racing had won the protest they would still be behind Sora Racing.
LMP1:
1 - Sora Racing #17 - 18 points
2 - Aston Martin Racing #007 - 15 points
3 - Team Oreca Matmut AIM #10 - 14 points
4 - Kolles #15 - 10 points
5 - Drayson Racing #87 - 9 points
6 - Kolles #14 - 7 points
7 - Tokai University YGK Power - 2 points
In LMP2 the OAK Racing team took two wins and pole position…the best result possible. So another Pescarolo that wins the title.
LMP2:
1 - OAK Racing #24 - 21 points
2 - Jose Ibanez #28 - 16 points
The GT1 class gave the Automobile Club de l’Ouest most work. On Saturday the JLOC #69 Lamborghini won the race with the #61 Hitotsuyama Team Nova Aston Martin taking second place. In the second race on Sunday things were exactly the other way around. As Larbre Competition had taken pole position they took a point for that, so that tie-break option had gone out the window. Eventually the champion in the GT1 class was decided by using the first win of the weekend as the decisive factor.
LMGT1:
1 - JLOC #69 - 18 points
2 - Hitotsuyama Team Nova #61 - 18 points
3 - Larbre Competition #50 - 7 points
4 - JLOC #68 - 5 points
In GT2 a great start by the Rahal Letterman Racing Team BMW was undone on Sunday when it hit trouble. By being consistent all weekend and scoring two podium finishes the Hankook-Team Farnbacher Ferrari took most points and was crowned Asian Le Mans Series 2009 GT2 champion.
LMGT2:
1 - Hankook-Team Farnbacher #89 - 16 points
2 - Rahal Letterman Racing Team #92 - 14 points
3 - Team Felbermayr-Proton #88 - 13 points
4 - Team Felbermayr-Proton #77 - 9 points
5 - Team Daishin #71 - 9 points
6 - Hankook-KTR #98 - 7 points
7 - JimGainer Racing #85 - 4 points
8 - Robertson Racing LLC #40 - 4 points
9 - Team Hong Kong Racing #91 - 2 points
10 - Scuderia Forme #81 - 0 points
