The Swiss team, active this season in the ATS Formula 3 Cup in Germany, will be running two Nissan GT-R cars in the World Championship and will be an “Official Nissan Customer Team”.

The team is run by Othmar Welti. The Swiss engineer was technical director at Jetalliance Racing and KplusK Motorsport in recent years and has now decided to bring his own team to the FIA GT1 World Championship. “After providing technical support for teams like Jetalliance Racing and KplusK Motorsport in the GT1 championship recently, the time has come to take charge ourselves. Even though the team has not confirmed any driver names for the upcoming season, although Karl Wendlinger is on the shortlist for the team. “We’ve been working together very well over the past three years. Continuing that would just be the logical consequence of it. In any case I’m in good spirits that a joint project will materialise,” says Welti.

  1. What does “official customer Team” mean? Is that kind of satellite or semi works team? How about Gigawave team?
Anyway i hope the Swiss squad consider to run their GT-Rs at Lemans24 and Asian LMS as well…

  2. My goodness, just wait…

    1) Official Customer Team means they are supported officially by Nissan via tech support. The teams buy the cars and own them.

    2) Gigawave said months ago there intentions are to run the whole season next year with the same driver line up. What is not known is will they add a second car to their line up?

    3) Since ACO has allowed the GT-R, I believe you will see both at Le Mans, know of any other GT-R teams yet? I would say you might see some Japanese drivers one of the World Championship cars and for SURE in one of the cars at Le Mans.

  3. Thanks guys I understand. Remaing of Gigawave/Nismo in ’10FIA-GT means returning of Nissan works team to World Championship since ’90WSPC.
Two dacades was to long for fans…
Also the SRT(Swiss Racing Team) will be first ever Nissan priveteer as World Championship runner.
Let us hope that GT-R(works or priveteer) may goes to Salthe next year.
