No substance in the ALMS. The ALMS is the leading series out of the two, and the most technologically advanced. It has forced the ACO to alter rules because the vehicles used in the ALMS were so goundbreaking.

The Alternative fuels, the leader light system, P2 regulations,

They've got bugger all to prove in ALMS, and it's just a circus without any substance compared to the LMS anyway.

Sorry USA.

Audi has taken Tom Kristenssen out of DTM to concentrate on sportscar racing. Perhaps gearing for a long LeMans type season.

The ALMS has teams with the budget to battle Audi. The ALMS P2 cars will be stronger than the privateer P1 cars in the LMS. They simply have bigger budgets, research dollars and quite frankly the biggest market also.

These are the races I think Audi should do and why:

March 20 Sebring 12 Hours-(Closest in length to lemans)
10-11 April Paul Ricard Circuit (8 hrs-(It's a long race)
April 17 (SAT) Long Beach 1H40Mn-(good race for publicity and marketing)
8-9 May // Spa-Francorchamps 1000km-(long straights can simulate lemans)
May 22 (SAT) Laguna Seca 6 Hours-(Long race, for lemans preparation)

June 13-14 LeMans-(self explanatory)

11-12 September // Silverstone 1000km-(cup requirement)
October 2 (SAT) Petit Le Mans 10 Hours/1000 miles-(cup requirement)
November 1rst Okayama-(cup requirement)

"Audi will contest the new Le Mans Intercontinental Cup in the 2010 season with two R15 TDI cars fielded by Audi Sport Team Joest."
Team Joest is german, so if they have to run 5 more races, i think there's a big chance to do it in the LMS. If they would plan the ALMS they should entry the cars by Champion Racing.

audi won't go to sebring. there is to much work on the aero to be done. it also seems there ios a misinterpretation of that aco press release: 3 cup-race + 5 aco-races or 5 aco-races incl. 3 cup-races - allways except LM? we will see.

I'm not a fan of AUDI by any means but that sounds bad and the way the story tell, the car aero still in development with only 100 days for the green flag at Sebring. Also, Patron HighCroft dropping to P2. Whats left on ALMS? GT2 I guess. Every year the 12hr race has less and less entries...is sad. We don't even know how will show up when the entry list for the 24hr is already in place.

To be eligible for the Intercontinental cup you also have to do 5 other races in any series, aside from the 3 required races (Japan, silverstone and Petit).

Audi will probably be at Sebring, they are going to Spa as well. So that means they have to run 3 addiditonal races...Hopefully they choose to them in the ALMS.

But the new ALMS rules might keep them away. Which means they could actually do a full season in the LMS. Hopefully it doesn't come to that for ALMS fans.
