American Le Mans Series

Black Swan Racing returns to ALMS with Porsche

© Team Trans Sport

Black Swan Racing will return to the American Le Mans Series with an entry in the GT class. The Boston based team will enter a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR for team owner Tim Pappas and double Porsche Supercup champion and 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 winner Jeroen Bleekemolen.

After running a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR under the Team Trans Sport banner in 2007 the team was re-named to Black Swan Racing in 2008 and entered the ALMS with a Doran Ford-GT. After taking a sabbatical in 2009 the team will now return with a new car. The team is aiming for top finishes and has therefore hired Bleekemolen as well as many new and experienced team members.

Bleekemolen is very happy with his move to the American Le Mans Series, even though it means he will not be able to defend his Porsche Supercup title. “The competition in the GT2 class of the ALMS next season is very strong. We must fight against the factory teams of Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette and BMW. We will get a lot of support from Porsche Motorsport, so that will definitely help. Winning races will be difficult given the competition, but we just have to be there and grab any opportunity we get. For me this is the perfect chance to build up a name for myself in America.”

Bleekemolen will also race in selected rounds of the Porsche Supercup, the Dutch GT4 Championship as well as the Daytona 24 Hours and the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Black Swan Racing’s line-up will have three drivers at the enduro races. The third driver will be announced at a later date.
