Saleen has the least manufacturer support in FIA GT that’s why they weren’t favored. All the teams that ran the cars last year had to abort their seasons because Oreca started building the LMPC cars (and developing the Oreca 01). So they couldn’t really help the customer teams.

But hopefully for 2011 they get into FIA it would be bad to loose such a well heeled backer as Atlas.

Ok Martin, I guess I wasn’t more specific. I meant titles in international competition. In GT racing the top series are ALMS, LMS and FIA GT. In all those the saleen has only won a title in the hands of Oreca (2007), who happen to be the company that builds them for Saleen.

The corvette and DBR9 won titles while being ran by non-works teams. And if you want to add in national series titles…the corvette would have too many to count.

But at least saleen won LeMans with a non-works team this year.

excuse me but if we all do our research a little bit better then you would find that the saleen has won more that one title, its won the british gt with graham nash motorsport, and the spanish gt with the same team, the saleen was not part of stephane ratels 2010 “wish list” so you wouldn’t be seeing any S7R’s in the fia gt1 world champ’ this year anyway!!

@kw: I can assure you that Carlo is still in talks with other teams outside LMS to race there as well. Hence the test with Matech at Portimao last week.

maybe they expect more entries in the LMS.

Correct me if i’m wrong but I think saleen has only won a championship once in the hands of Oreca. It looks very impressive but in racing it hasn’t quite turned out that way. Vitaphone couldn’t win the title with it in the FIA GT.

What is the sense of racing when you have no competitor to race against? Both Larbre and Atlas/FullSpeed should have made it into the GT1 championship entry list in time – that would have given 4 Saleen cars in the already impressive GT1 field 2010. Wonder why Carlo van Dam joins this project? He’s a very good driver who should look for a real challenge instead of being “just part of the LMS entry list”.

erm, looking for podium finishes in a class of two? Now that’s ambitious………..

This farcical GT1 is getting more annoying, hope we don’t get “Labre wins class” and “Team Full Speed get podium finish” press releases after each race.
