Christophe Bouchut will be the lead driver on the #15 Kolles Audi R10 TDI at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The French driver confirmed his plans and also confirmed that he will be joined by fellow Frenchman Manu Rodrigues and Bouchut’s American Le Mans Series team mate Scott Tucker.
Bouchut and Tucker will compete in the LMP Challenge class of the American Le Mans Series this season, and the opportunity to race for Kolles in the legendary French race was too good to pass.
“On paper, the choice of the Audi may seem a little crazy given the limited experience of Scott and Manu in sports prototypes”, said Christophe Bouchut. “My philosophy is not to ask them for pure performance. The important thing for them is to get used to the car.
Tucker, Bouchut and Rodrigues will not be racing the Audi R10 TDI in the Le Mans Series races at Paul Ricard or Spa-Francorchamps. “Our respective programs will not allow us to participate in a race preparation, but we will implement a testing program with Team Kolles to be ready for Le Mans”, said Bouchut.
Bouchut is happy to return to Le Mans with the Audi R10 TDI, even though he knows that the R10 will be no match for the Audi R15 and Peugeot 908. “It is a super car, myself I can not wait to get behind the wheel. I think a top 10 is within our reach, if we don’t make any mistakes on the track. ”
Scott Tucker: “Christophe has done a fantastic job and I am delighted that this project can be realized. I am also very happy to make my debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at his side, in continuation of our joint commitment to compete in the United States. ”
Manu Rodrigues: “I had a great experience in 2009 by participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Christopher, and am honored that he asked me to ride with him again this year. This is a big challenge for me, but I adapted to the traffic with a GT2, I think still be able to avoid the pitfalls through the advice of Christopher. ”
The line-up of the #14 Kolles Audi R10 TDI is yet to be announced, but it is still possible that Bakkerud will move there as – per ACO regulations – a team can swap drivers within a team.
