Jörg Bergmeister inherits GT2 pole position

Jörg Bergmeister and the #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 997 GT3 RSR were promoted to the GT2 pole position after the #90 BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team BMW E92 M3 failed a stall test during post qualifying scrutineering.

As a result of the BMW being excluded from the GT2 pole position Porsche will have a 1-2 in qualifying, as Wolf Henzler put the #17 Team Falken Tire in third place. For Jörg Bergmeister it will be his first pole position in GT2 at Sebring.

Jörg Bergmeister: “We made a really aggressive tire choice today but we were surprised that the competition wasn’t as fast as they were earlier in the week. We’re pleased to be on the front of the grid but we know it’s a long race.”

The following other cars have also been moved to the back of the grid following qualifying.

#75 RSR Jaguar – Jaguar XKR – driver(s) failed to achieve minimum laps at night.
#69 WERKS II Racing – Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – driver(s) failed to achieve minimum laps at night.
#36 Genoa Racing – Oreca FLM09 – below minimum weight.

The final grid will be confirmed tomorrow after the warm up session

  3. I think Porsche does not have the endurance package. But I may be wrong. It is a long race…

  5. @Kyle: no disrespect man but maybe you should take a look at the time charts… why do you not like them anyway?

  6. I’m a Flying Lizard fan and I love the RLR M3s, but speed does not always equal endurance. I’d love to see them win, but it’ll be tough.

  8. I love my Lizards, but I LOVE the overall quality of the grid. Honestly, I wouldn’t be sad to see anyone win, be they Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari, BMW, Ford GT, or even Jaguar.

I share your sympathies on RSR. However, I hope to gracious that they develop the car into a decent contender. If they do, then my views may change.

  10. yes, but as we have seen recently those so called enduros are no more than a 12hr sprint now… speed is everything. but yes, it is optimistic, however i am an optimistic person. i would like to see them 1st and 2nd but it isnt the end of the world if they dont so…

  11. It may be a 12 hour sprint, but you still need reliability, and that is something the BMW lacked last season and has had issues with during testing this year.
