The Triple H Team Hegersport Maserati MC12 of Bert Longin and Matteo Bobbi was quickest in the second free practice session for the FIA GT1 World Championship. The number 34 car lapped the Silverstone track in 2:01.135, almost two seconds quicker than the fastest time in the first session.
Their teammates Heger and Margaritis were second quickest, just under four tenths of a second from the number 34. Surprisingly quick was the number 24 Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago of Peter Kox and Christopher Haase. The black and white Lamborghini was 0.069s behind the number 33 and finished the session in third place.
Best of the Ford GT’s was the number 40 of Maxime Martin, who posted the fourth fastest lap time of the session. The sister car and the Matech Competition team were less fortunate. The second Marc VDS Racing Team car had some yet to be found issues which made it hard to drive and impossible to set lap times similar to the number 40. The Matech car spun into the gravel trap, causing double yellow being waved around the track for a few minutes.
The top eight finished with a one second gap between first and eighth. Five out of six brands racing here at Silverstone made it into the top eight, only Corvette not able to set quick lap times this second session. The first C6.R was the number 12 Mad-Croc Racing entry, in thirteenth place.
