Chris Buncombe: Radical weeks ahead!

After a few relatively quiet months for Chris Buncombe the Briton is getting a lot of action in August. Having completed some tests with the Nissan 370Z earlier this year at Zandvoort and some classic racing like at the Silverstone Classic Chris was back in action last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps with RJN Motorsport. But there is more…something Radical.

Chris took part in the Total 24 Hours of Spa this weekend, racing for RJN Motorsport in their number 62 Nissan 370Z in the GT4 category. Unfortunately for Chris he was unable to actually race the car in the 24 hours as it broke down after just an hour of racing. “It was really disappointing to retire from the race that early. I would have loved to race with my brother”, said Chris.

Luckily for Chris he doesn’t have to wait long this time before racing another car. “I will be flying to the United States on Wednesday”, said Chris. Chrise will race Libra Racing Radical SR9 with the International Engine Services (IES) prepared 4.0lt. Nissan V8 in the Mid-Ohio round of the American Le Mans Series. A rather welcome addition to his 2010 calendar.

Three weeks ago Chris was contacted by Ian Dawson to see if he was interested in racing the car, but despite being at a test day he did not drive the car so far. Today he got the call to see if he was still interested and available to race the car this weekend at Mid-Ohio. “Even though I have not driven a Radical ever before it is a good opportunity. It will be Libra Racing’s first race with the new engine and we hope to finish the race.”

After coming back from Mid-Ohio Chris will go to Hungary to compete in the Le Mans Series 1000 KM of the Hungaroring with Swiss team Race Performance, also racing a Radical SR9. “I was contacted by Race Performance asking me if I was available to race for them in Hungary”, said Chris. “It is a coincidence that they also race a Radical. They are a new team and they are working hard. I am looking forward to race at the Hungaroring.”
