Wish I could watch this race live on TV, or online. 0% SPEED will show it. idk if racing fans in Europe will be watching it live either.
Expected updates? I wonder what…
I dont even think Europe will be able to watch this, if there lucky they might get highlights. We won’t…
I don’t expect this Asian Le Man series to last too much longer, the only reason why it has been running the past 2 years is because 90% of the entries are from LMS. If it weren’t for the ILMC there would only be 6-8 entries.
More Asian car teams need to sign up. It would even be cool if they did something special and allowed Super GT cars to race side by side in the Le Man races, that would get more fans to watch for sure.
@ Brett
Look on the bright side, at least LMGT1′s last ever race will actually be a race. Apart from LM24, there just hasn’t been a real race in LMS for GT1 this year.
@Schellz
I wouldn’t say that. The LMS Spa 1000km had the best GT1 field outside of Le Mans, IMO.
i cant believe the GTC will not allow the Audi R8 LMS in the ALMS series next year!! We need more cars on the field!! ALMS needs more competition!! i think thats gonna hurt the series a little bit next year!! GTC is just so boring with one model allowed in the class!!
The parts have to be easy to buy for teams. There’s no parts dealer in the US for them.
Meanwhile there are many used 911 GT3 cup cars lying around. So they’re relatively very cheap to obtain. The basis of the class is affordability. The R8 will drive up the costs and teams will start competing for bigger and better hardware.
Zhuhai will be on Eurosport Sunday 7.11. morning 9 to 11 live.
Regrettably no sign of Zuhai on either Eurosport channel in the UK. Nor on Motors TV, which is featuring the Bathurst and, happily, FIA GT3 races live.
Shame, it would have been interesting to see the Panoz on track. Does anybody else think the Abruzzi reminiscent of the Rondeau M382 ‘push me pull you’ that was such a clunker in 1984 Group C – and not just because of the Cosworth DFL vibrator special in the back?
Let’s hope the Panoz fairs better. The early coupes and roadsters were amazing in GT1 and LMP1.
you can add thee #55 Level 5 car to the list as well
if the link doesnt work just go to the ALMS home page and enjoy the article about Tucker being the Rookie of the Year!
@Dan
If that pans out, then kudos to Tucker for taking up that challenge. Hopefully more FLM/LMPC teams are able to take up that chance.
In my opinion, this entry list is a joke. Only 18 “real” Le Mans cars (“read : cars that can take part during LM24 next year”). 9 cars are expected to fill the gaps. Above this, i wonder if the next cars will really be there : 66, 81, 82, 90 and maybe also 96 and 97 ( normally i would say no, but i can’t look in the mind of Zack Brown ). I don’t believe in the future of the ILMC… ( open your eyes )..
Tucker and Level 5 Motorsports are part of the expected updates; not necessarily meaning we had placed both on the list before publishing this article.
Also add the Panoz Abruzzi, which brings the total to 29.
As for the ones HD mentions. I doubt the Atlas eFX car will be at Zhuhai. Likely to see one Jaguar instead of two. Which would mean we’re back to 27 entries.
CRS and United Autosports will be racing in China. In fact United Autosports has also entered its two Audi R8 LMS cars for the Macau GT Cup some two weeks later.
@Marcel
are you guys gonna put the entry list on the “entry list” tab w/ the spotters guide images on the entry list?
Does anyone know why GTC doesn’t allow all GT3 cars? There must be a reason but I really don’t understand why.
Also, @HD
If you want to say cars that can compete at LM24 next year, then you really have to eliminate all the LMP1/2s because they’re both changing so much for next year.
@Schellz
ALMS GTC does not allow Gt3 cars for 2 reasons
1. More manufacturers = more $ to develop cars
2. it is supposed to develop the team and driver, not a car, that i what Gt2 is for. the best driver development is for the driver to practice against equal competetors, not him in a faster or slower car or having the team build the fast car and a B driver beat an A one because the B driver has a better car. This puts A drivers with A drivers and makes B drivers able to develop their sckills more, such as Duncen Ende, Ross and Kendal Smith, Tim Pappas…. it makes it more of a drivers sport rather than a team or car sport which im my opinion is good to have, especially when there are already 2 AMAZING classes for development manufacturer R&D.
also, this LMp2 change is SOOOOO STUPID because it seems like the P2 cars will be the same speed or slower the the PC or even gT2 cars. they could make the P2 cars have GT2 engines but still be just as fast as they are now with bigger rear wings (like 08) and bigger restrictors on the Gt2 engines (maybe 100 more horsepower, which adds 0 cost to the engines and makes the racing better because you dont have the P2 cars racing PC or Gt2. I think P1 cars should be about the same speeds as P2, PC cars about 5 seconds a lap slower, Gt2 cars another 5 seconds back, and GtC another 5 seconds back, but it looks like next year the P1 cars might be about 3 seconds sloewr than they were this year, with PC, P2, and Gt2 within 2-4 seconds of each other, and Gtc another 3-4 back…. that is the worst tech desision the ACO/IMSA can make in my opnion….
@Dan: unlikely as we don’t have all the liveries for this event.
But you never know :)
@Dan
Thanks
