Carlo van Dam to test SuperGT Lexus SC430

Carlo van Dam, who competed in the Le Mans Series with Atlas eFX-Team FS this season, has travelled to Japan to test the Lexus SC430 of Japanese Super GT team Lexus Team SARD at the Twin Ring Motegi on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Dutchman will replace André Couto in the test on the circuit that will host round 8 of the 2010 AUTOBACS Super GT series. Couto is one of the two regular drivers of Lexus Team SARD, but is unavailable for the tyre tests.

For Carlo van Dam, who raced in Japanese F3 and a couple of Super GT races in 2008 and also competed in the Asian Le Mans Series at Okayama one year ago, it is a welcome return to Japan. Even though his last two races in Super GT back in 2008 Van Dam is not a newcomer in the Lexus SC430 as he drove the PETRONAS TOM’S SC430 in the International POKKA 1000km at Suzuka back in August, 2008.

“Obviously I gladly accepted the offer to test for SARD,” said Carlo. “The SuperGT is a great series and given the intense involvement of the tire manufacturers a tire test like this is a serious matter. I will share the car on these two days with (regular driver) Kohei Hirate.”

The next round of the AUTOBACS Super GT series will take place at the Twin Ring Motegi on Ocober 23/24.

  1. Beautiful car, very impresive, and like many others Japanese cars, very reliable. Watch out, Europeans and Americans race car manufacturers!
