Callaway Competition chases team title

Callaway Competition has already one title under it’s belt in this season, Christian Hohenadel and Daniel Keilwitz claimed the driver’s title of the 2010 FIA GT3 European Championship at the penultimate round of the season at Portimão/Portugal.

At this weekend’s final round of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Zolder in Belgium, Callaway Competition is on the hunt for the team title. In the two Corvette Z06.R GT3, developed and built by Callaway Competition in Germany, the new European Champions Hohenadel/Keilwitz and the two Dutchman Marius Ritskes and Bernard van Oranje fight for team points to crown Callaway Competition as the best European GT3-team.

The Team led by Ernst Wöhr ad Giovanni Ciccone, the most successful squad in the FIA GT3-European Championship, wants to add another trophy to the team’s illustrious success record. European team Champions 2007, team champions in the ADAC GT Masters 2009, European drivers titles 2008 and 2010 – this is Callaway Competition’s success record of the last three years. The chances to clinch also the team title this year are quite good. Callaway Competition is point leader in the team championship with a solid gap of 49 points ahead of the final two races on the former Formula 1-track in Belgium.

„Our main goal at Zolder is to win the team championship for Callaway“, fresh crowned European Champion Christian Hohenadel says. „I hope we can make it at Zolder. The races will be quite interesting, because after our recent success, we have a lot of success ballast on board our Corvette. But I’m really looking forward to Zolder, the track is a classic and really nice circuit.“

„Zolder is one more track which is new to me,“ Daniel Keilwitz says. „But most of the other tracks were also new to me this season, so I really do not worry about this. The track should suit our Corvette, like most of the tracks we are racing this season. But due to the latest „balance of performance“, we are lacking power and speed. Of course we won the last race, but not because we had the quickest car out there, but we had the best tactic. After we now have the title in our pocket, we have no pressure at Zolder and can enjoy the racing there. It would be great to conclude the season at Zolder with a podium finish.“
