Zhuhai 1000 KM – Thursday Test Results

Despite the weekend officially starting with the first free practice session on Friday the Intercontinental Le Mans cup entrants had the opportunity to test on the 4.319 km long Zhuhai International Circuit in two test sessions on Thursday.

Team Peugeot Total was fastest in the first testing practice. The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, in its final official race weekend, of Sebastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud completed 46 laps and posted a 1:20.961 as its fastest lap.
Second quickest was the Audi Sport Team Joest Audi R15 TDI of Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish, the Dane posting a 1:21.002. Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin were third fastest in the second Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, over six tenths of a second behind their teammates.

In the GT categories it was the Hybrid Porsche (GTH class) that was quickest around the Chinese circuit, just over a second quicker than the AF Corse Ferrari and the Schnitzer BMW.

In the second session five extra cars joined, but again the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was quickest of them all, taking first and second in a session that saw rain coming down in the final hour. Allan McNish was the fastest Audi Sport Team Joest driver, putting his Audi R15 TDI in third place.
Once again the Hybrid Porsche was the quickest GT car, this time half a second quicker than the BMW M3 E92 and almost a second quicker than the JLOC Lamborghini Murcielago GT1.

Tomorrow two one-hour long practice sessions are scheduled. The teams will go out onto the track between 10.30 and 11.30 as well as 15.30 and 16.30.
