After being quickest in testing on Thursday Team Peugeot Total continued to post quick lap times in the two free practice sessions at the Zhuhai International Circuit on Friday. In both sessions a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP topped the time sheets after one hour.
The morning session today started at 10:30 AM local time and the 19 cars that went out on track did so on a damp circuit. Unfortunately for them the weather did not improve, but deteriorated and ended wet. The #1 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP was quickest, over six tenths of a second clear of the first of the two Audi R15 TDI’s and another six tenths over the second Audi.
Immediately behind the four diesels it was the Team Felbermayr Proton Porsche 997 GT3 RSR of Marc Lieb and Richard Lietz. The German-Austrian pair managed to beat the AF Corse Ferrari by .032 seconds, with the Larbre Competition Saleen just .077s seconds further behind. KK Performance was the best Audi R8 LMS in the GTC category.
Tokai University’s Courage-Oreca LC70 YGK did not go out after a heavy shunt on Thursday but the car should be back out on Saturday, while JaguarRSR decided not to go out on track to avoid any risk of being caught out in the wet conditions.

Good to see the Drayson car almost on par with the diesels, they could be looking at a podium if all goes well.
