GT Sport announces GT Open and Spanish GT calendars

After confirmation of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Series calendars Planetlemans can also reveal the provisional calendar for the 2011 International GT Open season as well as the Spanish GT calendar. Both series are promoted by the GT Sport Organizacion.

In 2011 the International GT Open championship will have eight race weekends all over Europe. The series that is open for GT2, GT3 and GT4 cars will kick off at the Autodromo Enzo & Dino Ferrari and will traditionally finish on the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.

The provisional 2010 GT Open calendar is:

1. Imola (ITA) 30 April-1 May 2011
2. Magny-Cours (FRA) 14-15 May 2011
3. Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) 25-26 June 2011
4. Nürburgring (GER) 2-3 July 2011
5. Brands Hatch (GBR) 23-24 July 2011
6. Red Bull Ring (AUT) 27-28 August 2011
7. Monza (ITA) October 1-2 2011
8. Barcelona (ESP) October 29-30 2011

GT Sport’s other GT series, the Campeonato de España de GT, is set to race on six race weekends in Spain and Portugal. A seventh (reserve) round can also be found on the calendar. It is interesting to see the Spanish GT championship is scheduled to race on the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on September 24-25, as this is the same date the Le Mans Series will have its Portuguese round.

The provisional 2010 Campeonato de España de GT calendar is:

1. Valencia (ESP) 16-17 April 2011
-. Albacete (ESP) 7-8 May 2011 (RESERVE)
2. Jarama (ESP) 28-29 May 2011
3. Estoril (POR) 16-17 July 2011
4. Navarra (ESP) 10-11 September 2011
5. Portimao (POR) 24-25 September 2011
6. Jerez (ESP) October 15-16 2011

  2. Interesting to see Spanish GT at Portimao on the same weekend as LMS. Could they possibly be planning to run a single race together to boost GT car counts?
