The HTC Dutch GT4 Championship announced the 2011 calendar. In its third season the HTC Dutch GT4 Championship will have 23 races on eight weekends. The teams will race on Zandvoort, Assen, Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder.
In 2011 the HTC Dutch GT4 will share the track with the GT4 European Cup on four occasions. At Spa-Francorchamps (July 9), Zolder (July 17), Assen (September 18) and Zandvoort (October 16) the European and Dutch teams will go head to head.
Another novelty for 2011 is the possibility to scrap the result of one event before the final race of the season. As a result a competitor can miss one round or score a DNF without any consequences for the championship.
The 2011 season will kick off with the traditional Kruidvat Gillette Paasraces (Easter Races) at Zandvoort on April 25. Round two will also take place at the Zandvoort circuit on June 13 (Profile Tyrecenter Pinksterraces).
From Zandvoort the teams will head south and go to Belgium on two consecutive weekends. First stop is the Spa-Francorchamps circuit where the Dutch GT4 teams will race on the famous circuit on July 9. The British GT Championship will also be racing at Spa that weekend. One week later the Dutch GT4 teams will be at Zolder as part of the Superleague Formula weekend (July 17).
Just over a month later the teams will return to Zandvoort where they will race during the Masters of Formula 3 weekend (August 14). Round six will also be at Zandvoort. On September 4 the HTC Dutch GT4 will be racing at the Trophy of the Dunes.
The final two rounds of the HTC Dutch GT4 will be together with other SRO series again. Two weeks after the Trophy of the Dunes the teams will race at the TT Circuit in Assen as part of the ADAC GT Masters weekend. One month later the season finale will be the Formido Finaleraces at Zandvoort. At Zandvoort the HTC Dutch GT4 will be joined by the prestigious FIA GT3 European Championship.
Like in 2010 the HTC Dutch GT4 race weekends will have three races (two sprintraces and a feature race). At Spa-Francorchamps the teams will have two one-hour races and no third race on Sunday.
“We are very pleased with this beautiful calendar, with the HTC Dutch GT4 running on four different circuits, while the focus remains on our home in Zandvoort,” says Erik Weijers, COO of Circuit Park Zandvoort, organizer of the HTC Dutch GT4 Championship. “We are also pleased to work together with the European Championship, which will result in an extra large and attractive field on four events.”
