Pescarolo Team confirms 2011 program and drivers

Henri Pescarolo is set to return to racing with Pescarolo Team in the 2011 season and little by little the team is returning to its old glory. This week Pescarolo confirmed its drivers, its program and its engine choice.

Having raced for Porsche and Corvette in most international races in 2009 and 2010 Emmanuel Collard will return for a full season with Pescarolo this season, after having not race an LMP car for almost a year and a half.

Collard: “I am really happy to race in a prototype again and especially to work with Henri’s team again, who I’ve known for so long. To take part in the development of an LMP1 with Claude Galopin is always an exciting experience.”

Emmanuel Collard’s teammate will be another Pescarolo regular, Christophe Tinseau, whose last race in a Pescarolo 01 was at the Okayama 1000 kilometers in November 2009, the last race of the Pescarolo team before it was forced to sit out 2010.

Tinseau: “It is a return that I hoped for and that I waited for impatiently. I am also pleased to rejoin the team with whom I had so many successes. Sharing the Pescarolo-Judd with Manu Collard is an exciting project.”

Pescarolo Team has requested one LMP1 entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours and will also race in the five rounds of the Le Mans Series this season. Henri Pescarolo: “We chose to seize the opportunity we were offerted by the ACO to keep the Judd V10 for another year. The Pescarolo-Judd in its 2010 version never raced in LMP1, it has never been able to show its potential. We are confident that it will be competitive in 2011. The choice of drivers demonstrates our ambitions: to win the Le Mans Series and to get a good result in the 24 Hours.”

  1. Great to see Henri Pescarolo’s team back for 2011 in the Le Mans Series and hopefully the Le Mans 24 Hours. I hope they will have a very good year and beat Peugeot and Audi.

  2. Surprising they didn’t go for a 2011-spec car, but perhaps they just needed the consistency. We’ll see if the missed year will have hurt them and by how much, but good luck to this terrific outfit!!

  7. With peugeot and oreca in the prototype saddle, it made them redundant (powerhouse french teams). Best bet for survival is to alin with a manufacturer. I think Acura is ripe for the picking with their upcoming P1 car. They also need to do an american race to make themselves more attractive to major sponsors

  9. Congrats real embark of the Pescarolo team. Fans waited!
I agree w/Bamba that Pesca’s next move after 2010car will be crucial to survive.
HPD p1 makes sense but on the other hand i hope “the real LMP racer” P01evo will be updated to 2011spec w/any 3.4L V8s in the world.
Fans don’t forget works-P01evo’s great performance in 09Barcelona and Okayama (in such a chassis circuit) which was clearly faster than Oreca, Lola and Aston…
    Good luck in 2011!

  10. Welcome back Henri and team. Circumstances beyond your control left you in a terrible place last year. Whatever you race in 2012 it’ll just be good to see you back. Good luck.

  11. Good to have Henri back at Le Mans!
The car isn’t up to date, but should be reliable and easy to handle. Thus, with the excellent driver line-up, they should be competitive on a medium level to “survive” in 2011 and then to be able to have an upgrade in 2012 which I hope will make them interesting for a factory partner like Toyota did with Rebellion.

  12. For some reason I think Henri enjoys battling the big guys. It seems he wants his own brand.

He’s had plenty of opportunity to align with a manufacturer but he chose to go the solo privateer route. He’s been around longer than Rebellion, Oak, Strakka, Van Merkstein and RML. Yet those teams got manufacturer backing in short time.

With Peugeot in 2009 he had been an earlier partner of theirs and it was probably expected for him not to turn them down.
