Albert von Thurn und Taxis and Mike Parisy were the fastest drivers in qualifying for the two rounds of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Paul Ricard. The Lamborghini dominated Q1, with the Mercedes setting the fastest time in Q2.
In Q1 Von Thurn und Taxis was quickest after his first flying lap and when he improved on his second the opposition was left without an answer. Paul van Splunteren finished Q1 in second place, almost nine tenths slower than the 2:07.276 set by Von Thurn und Taxis. Dominik Baumann finished Q1 in third place.
Current championship leaders Faster Racing by DB Motorsport finished Q1 in 22nd and 25th positions with their BMW Z4 GT3s.
In Q2 Maxime Martin was the quickest driver halfway the session. But with six minutes left Mike Parisy improved his time and set a 2:06.768 in his Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. Dino Lunardi took second place with just 2.5 minutes left, pushing Martin down to third. Noone was able to improve, resulting in Parisy taking pole for the second race.
Championship leader Faster Racing was 21st with their nr 35 BMW Z4 GT3.
