After a successful first season in 2011, the team will run again the LMP2 Norma into the European Le Mans Series and filed a request to participate for the 80th Le Mans 24 Hours.
No major changes in 2012 for the team led by Patrice ROUSSEL :”We have a solid basis that allows us to be secured in 2012. Our podium in the final of Estoril and the private tests wa had on the Bugatti circuit in mid-December confirmed that we are moving fast in performance!”
The Norma M200P will naturally receive the aero regulatory changes that will be tested mid-February in Lurcy-Levis. The team also worked on many details that make the car easier to drive and operate: ”The reliability and simplicity of the M200P allow us to get a reasonable operating budget, in the spirit of LMP2 2011 regulations. In times of crisis, it is important to our sponsors and our drivers.”
As for engines, it will be also continuity: ”JUDD has worked on the HK this winter. He was very reliable in 2011 and we believe it has the potential to be ahead in 2012.”
Around the team manager, also little changes in a team whose members cumulate all together more than 100 participations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans!
The only significant change is the arrival of Christophe BOITTIN (ex-Barazi/Epsilon) as operating engineer: ”Christophe has joined the team last year at Spa and Le Mans and its LMP2 experience at the highest level will be precious”
The team will again rely on the talent and maturity of its lead driver, Fabien ROSIER : the winner of the 2011 Jean Rondeau prize reached a sporting and technical level which made him become one of the French Endurance best drivers.
The season will start on February 2 with the announcement of the selection of 24 hours of Le Mans and then on April 1 with the first race of the ELMS at Le Castellet.
