Muscle Milk Pickett Racing kicks off 2013 season with second row start

470-hpd6-sebring-musclemilkAfter strong showings in test and practice sessions this week at Sebring International Raceway, Muscle Milk Pickett Racing qualified fourth on Friday for tomorrow’s 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida.

The #6 Muscle Milk HPD will be lining up on the second row of the grid behind the two Audi machines and right next to the #12 Rebellion Racing car.

Klaus Graf was handling driving duties for the first qualifying session of the 2013 American Le Mans Series. The German completed four timed laps with his fastest time coming on his third one around the 3.74-mile road course.

While the Audis were in a class of their own, the petrol cars put on quite a show as Graf’s best time of one minute 46.478 seconds was only two hundredths of a second behind the #12 car.

Graf, along with co-drivers Lucas Luhr and Romain Dumas, will be on track at 8:00 am for the warm-up session before the drop of the green flag at 10:45 am ET.

The 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida goes green on Saturday, March 16th and will be broadcast live on SPEED starting at 10:30 am ET.

Muscle Milk Quotes

Klaus Graf – driver #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03c
“Qualifying was a great show for the fans today. It shows that the petrol cars are really close together. It’s very competitive. Obviously the Audis are up front like everyone expected but you never know, it’s a long race. Our Muscle Milk HPD car is very good.
“In qualifying, the track changed again, but it was the same for everybody. I don’t think we were at a disadvantage there. The lap was good and I look forward to the race. To start on the second row here is perfect for us. I think we are in a good position for the race.”

Lucas Luhr – driver #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03c
“I’m very happy with the result in qualifying today. We didn’t really focus on qualifying too much throughout the week because for a 12-hour race it doesn’t really matter. Klaus did a very good job and I have to say thanks to all the crew because they have worked really hard the whole week.
“I think we can all be happy with our spot on the starting grid, even if it would be nice to be the best petrol car. We have a very, very good racecar. It’s a long and tough race with a lot of traffic. We have to be smart and basically just run laps and stay within the pack until it’s go time!”

Romain Dumas, driver #6 Muscle Milk Pickett Racing
“Everything has gone really well so far. It’s always a pleasure for me to join Muscle Milk Pickett Racing. It’s a great team with such a family-like atmosphere.
“Throughout the test and practice sessions this week, we’ve had very good performances and the car is very easy to drive as it handles well on the bumps and around the track. So, that said, I am very confident for the race.”
