ProSpeed Competition will be joining the starting grid in the FIA World Endurance Championship. With the official return of Porsche Motorsport, the FIA WEC is the reference championship when it comes to endurance events. ProSpeed Competition will be rubbing shoulders with the biggest specialist teams worldwide.
The Belgian team will be entering a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to compete in the LMGTE Am category, the “Pro-Am” reserved for Grand Touring cars. The Porsche #75 will be manned by a trio of French drivers: the experienced Emmanuel Collard, the loyal François Perrodo and the young 19 years old hopeful Matthieu Vaxivière. They will compete in eight rounds ranging from Silverstone to Spa-Francorchamps (3rd May)… calling in on the United States, Japan, China, Bahrain and Brazil. This ambitious sporting programme endorses ProSpeed Competition’s fifth participation at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (13th-14thJune), the third meeting of the championship. Back in 2011 ProSpeed Competition clinched the Prix Escra awarded to the team having provided the best technical assistance.
François Perrodo (Driver – Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 – LMGTE Am)
-“ 2014 will be my third full season in motorsport, following a year in VdeV and a year in European Le Mans Series. It wasn’t an easy decision to compete in the WEC, it’ s of a high level, the races are far away and practically all the circuits are new for me. I’m fully aware of the extent of the task in hand but the motivation is enormous. For ProSpeed and my teammates this will be a year to discover the championship, but I put my full trust in the professionalism of one and all to produce their utmost. I can’t wait to be in Silverstone! We are going to experience an exceptional human adventure. All the ProSpeed members
are pros, friendly and highly motivated! Manu is an experienced and unrivalled driver, and he will be competing in his 20th 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The young French hopeful, Matthieu Vaxivière, also highly active in single-seaters (Formula 3.5 Series, ed) is a super character, fast but more especially a friend. To compete in the WEC is an enormous privilege for a gentleman driver, to be able to do it with friends is quite unique.”
Emmanuel Collard (Driver – Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 – LMGTE Am)
-“ This commitment is part and parcel of a well thought out programme, which we developed over several seasons. For example last year we had already competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and clinched a podium place in Bahrain, the last meeting of the 2013 WEC. The World Endurance Championship is the reference in competition. “
Rudi Penders (ProSpeed Competition Team Principal)
-“ Our commitment in the World Endurance Championship is an additional stage for ProSpeed Competition. Next season we will be celebrating our tenth year of existence. Luc Goris, technical director, and myself have always considered continuity as an essential element in our professional activity. It involves so many values to be respected! We are always out to bring it to the forefront with our collaborators, our suppliers, our business partners and our drivers. The trust placed in us by François Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard confirms the well-founded merits of our philosophy. The “Pro-Am” programme was sealed early on during the offseason. Today we are completing the fitting out of the car and, basing ourselves on our intercontinental experiences, in China or in Dubai, we are finetuning the logistic aspect of this commitment.”
