One week before the penultimate round of the Asian Le Mans Series at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, the series organisers have announced a 17-car entry list.
Round three of the 2015/2016 season will see the Le Mans Prototypes race in Thailand for the first time. The seven-car prototype field includes four LMP2s and three LMP3s. Two CN cars, seven GTs and one GTAm car will complete the grid.
Points leaders Race Performance will have a revised lineup for the race in Buriram. Oliver Webb will replace Shinji Nakano alongside Nicolas Leutwiler in the Swiss Oreca 03R Judd that won the first two rounds of the championship.
Eurasia Motorsport has entered a second Oreca 03R Nissan. Sean Gelael and 2015 Masters of Formula 3 winner Antonio Giovinazzi will share the wheel of the No. 9 Jagonya Ayam with Eurasia entry, while William Lok, Tack Sung Kim and Richard Bradley will race the team’s No. 99 car.
Completing the LMP2 class is the Algarve Pro Racing Ligier JS P2 of Michael Munemann, Dean Koutsoumidis and James Winslow.
DC Racing won the first two rounds of season in the LMP3 class with its Ligier JS P3 and David Cheng, Ho-Pin Tung and Thomas Laurent are hoping to make it three in a row. They will be competing against the two Team AAI ADESS 03 entries. The prototype field is completed by two Wolf GB08s in the CN class.
Weng Sun Mok, Rob Bell and Keita Sawa plan to keep Clearwater Racing’s winning streak intact in Thailand. The team’s McLaren 650S GT3 won at Fuji and Sepang and is the top favorite for the Thai round. The No. 38 Spirit of Racing Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of Nasrat Muzayyin and Rui Aguas is currently second in the point standings, 21 points behind Clearwater Racing.
