Romain Dumas (France), who shares the #7 LMP2 Penske Racing Porsche RS Spyder with Timo Bernhard (Germany), and Jorg Bergmeister (Germany), who drives the #45 GT2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with Wolf Henzler (Germany), both broke the track qualifying records in their classes, but it wasn’t quite enough to capture the pole for their Porsche teams for tomorrow’s Generac 500 at Road America.
Today’s qualifying session for Sunday’s Generac 500 at Elkhart Lake’s Road America, Round 7 of the 2008 American Le Mans Series, may not have produced the precise result the Patrón Highcroft Acura team was looking for, but driver David Brabham feels the team is in good shape for tomorrow’s race.
In keeping with its reputation as the world’s fastest permanent road course, qualifying records fell sharply this afternoon at Road America for tomorrow’s Generac 500 American Le Mans race. Tafel Racing earned its first American Le Mans Series career pole position today in preparation for Saturday’s Generac 500 at Road America. The #18 VICI Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will start tomorrow’s Generac 500, the seventh round of the 2008 American Le Mans Series, from the fifth row of the GT2 grid after an electrical issue saw the engine cutting out intermittently during this afternoon’s 20 minute qualifying session. However the team is satisfied with the progress made during the last two days here at a hot-and-dry Road America, and with a tough 4-hour race expected tomorrow, we are ready and prepared for the challenge.
Female racing driver Liz Halliday will make her long awaited return to the American Le Mans Series later in the year after signing for British squad Creation AIM to contest the Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca events.
