ORECA unveils its LM P2, the ORECA 03

ORECA has been a constructor since the end of 2007, and it has already made a name for itself with the ORECA 01 racing in LM P1, and the Formula Le Mans prototypes. The Signes-based Group has used the experience gained with these two cars to build the ORECA 03. This new prototype will be on sale for teams wanting to race in 2011 in the Le Mans 24 Hours and in the different Le Mans Series in the LM P2 category.[...]

A tradition on the Thursday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the annual Automobile Club de l’Ouest press conference held in the museum next to the circuit. This year the ACO had lots of news to unveil.

ACO: “GT2 has a wonderful future beckoning”

Last week SRO announced the cancellation of the 2010 FIA GT2 European Championship due to a lack of commitment from teams and manufacturers. Today the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has issued a press release stating quite the opposite for the various Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans. The ACO goes even further, saying that the GT2 class is “a category of the future for endurance racing”.[...]

The ACO launches the 2010 Le Mans Intercontinental Cup

During its press conference at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours in June, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest confirmed its intention to link the various Le Mans Series, so in 2010, it will launch a cup reserved for entrants in the top endurance category, LM P1.[...]

Asian LMS: Positive first weekend, more to come?

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest returned to Japan ten years after the Le Mans Fuji 1000km and two years after the end of the ACO-sanctioned Japan Le Mans Challenge for a new attempt to start an Asian championship. After some puzzling and checking the Asian Le Mans Series regulations the final standings of the 2009 Asian Le Mans Series were confirmed at 3.30 pm Okayama time. Asian LM Series – Aston wins, Pescarolo champion

Sora Racing clinched the first ever Asian Le Mans Series title at the Okayama International Circuit this weekend. Having won the first race on Saturday the team took second place on Sunday. The results from the two races combined were enough to secure the championship. In the second race the Aston Martin Racing team took the win, taking some revenge on yesterday’s result.[...]
