The team Van Merksteijn Motorsport by Equipe Verschuur and its drivers, Jos Verstappen and Peter van Merksteijn, claimed victory in the LMP2 class in the third season round of the Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps. In front of 35,000 spectators, among them numerous Dutch fans, Verstappen and Van Merksteijn took their Porsche RS Spyder to victory in class with a margin of 10.387 seconds over Jan Lammers and Didier Theys with the Porsche RS Spyder of the Swiss Horag team.[…]

Audi has taken the lead of the manufacturers’ championship of the European Le Mans Series at the 1000-kilometre race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The two Audi youngsters Alexandre Prémat (26/France) and Mike Rockenfeller (24/Germany) in their Audi R10 TDI finished the third race of the season again in second place, thus going to the “Audi home round” at the Nürburgring on 17 August with the same points score as the Peugeot drivers Marc Gené and Nicolas Minassian[…]
In only its third ever race, this weekend’s 1,000km of Spa, the recently established Trading Performance team raced to a commendable finish. The Swiss squad expressed delight with the performance of the Zytek 07S that enabled it to stay in touch with the field for over five hours. At one point it was even up to third in the LMP2 class, an admirable effort considering the team’s inexperience at this high level of racing and the level of the competition. After finishing third in class at Monza, Italy 14 days ago, Horag Racing placed a strong second in the LMP2 class Sunday in the 1,000 Kilometers of Spa Le Mans Series race at the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps. The Lista Office and Lista, Making Workspace Work Porsche RS Spyder No. 27 led the class for more than two hours of the race, which ended after 5:17:48 had elapsed and the overall winning Peugeot had circled the 7.003-km, 15-turn road course 143 times.[…]
