The Charouz Racing System team scored the best qualifying result of the season at Nürburgring. Stefan Mücke today set third time overall and also of the premium LMP1 class. The Czech team closely cooperating with the Aston Martin Racing managed to sneak between four turbodiesels and beat both works Audi. It means second row, for the second time this year, on the starting grid which will see green flag just five minutes after the noon.
In sunny weather conditions SNORAS Spyker Squadron qualified seventh and ninth for tomorrows Nürburgring 1000 km race. Peter Dumbreck qualified the #85 SNORAS Spyker Squadron car and set a quickest time of 1:59.613, 1.7 seconds behind the GT2 pole position. Benjamin Leuenberger set a best of 2:00.132 in the #94 Speedy Racing Team Spyker.
It was a comanding 1-2 for Peugeot at qualifying for the LMS Nürburgring 1000 km this afternoon. Marc Gené managed pole in a very impressive 1.39.492 while Pedro lamy went around the Grand prix circuit in 1.39.515, a few thousandths of a second away from his team mate, to grab second. Strong performance from the Charouz Lola-Aston in third. The LMP2 pole was vor Verstappen on the van Merksteijn Porsche, in GT1 Enge got Modena on pole while Anthony Beltoise grabbed his first LMS GT2 pole on the Farnbacher Ferrari.
The third and final free practice session for the Nürburgring 1000km race ended with a Peugeot 908 in first place. Pedro Lamy lapped the 5.137km long circuit in 1:39.023, the fastest lap time by far in the session.[…]
The Spanish team participates this weekend in the 1.000 km of Nürburgring with two cars. The four drivers were very satisfied with the latst improvements. Angel Burgueño and Miguel Angel de Castro, ee1 LMP1 number 20 and Shinji Nakano and Adrián Vallés, number 21, completely agree in their comments: the changes implemented in suspension and aerodynamics turned the ee1 into a better car.
The second free practice session for the “ADAC 1000KM-Rennen” at the Nürburgring circuit saw a Peugeot on the top of the timing sheets again. After one hour it was the Sarrazin/Lamy driven number 8 car that was quickest. Team mates Gene and Minassian completed a Peugeot 1-2.[…]
Helped by good weather (sunny but not warm) the first practice session started at 12.05 CET today at the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit in Germany. Very few surprises as Peugeot took quickest time and almost all favorites were on top of their classes. A noticeable time was the second in LMP2 scored by the Quifel ASM team, just 297/1000 ths of a second shy of the top time (Essex Porsche). The IPB Lamborghini topped GT1 while the Virgo Ferrari led the pack in GT2.
There was quite some interesting news this morning at the Nürburgring as the teams prepared for their first free practice session after the long summer break. Most interesting was the news that all the teams have been asked for input on the upcoming season(s) by the LMS organizer Patrick Peter.[…]
After what seemed an eternity since the Spa 1000 km in May, the LMS is back to work this weekend at the Nürburgring with a very healthy 49-entries grid that should translate once more into attractive, close racing for the whole extent of the event.
After announcing a deal to race with Creation AIM at the final two rounds of the American Le Mans Series earlier in the week, Liz Halliday will get a much earlier opportunity to race the team’s CA07 chassis than originally expected, having been called up to contest this weekend’s Nurburgring 1000kms.
