The third round of the 2008 FIA GT Championship, an evening race at the Adria International Raceway in Italy, saw the GMAC-backed Phoenix Racing team take its first win, with victory going to Fabrizio Gollin and Mike Hezemans in the nr 6 Corvette C6R. Twenty-seven cars were ready for the third round of the FIA GT Championship at the Adria International Raceway, some fifty km south of Venice, Italy. A blue sky greeted the 27 teams at the Adria International Raceway today as the cars rolled out of their pit boxes for the thirty minute long warm-up session. For a while it was an Aston Martin DBR9 on top of the lists, but when the chequered flag came out it was again the Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R of Marcel Fässler and Jean-Denis Deletraz that topped the timing sheets.[…]
For the third time in as many sessions the Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R and AF Corse Ferrari 430 GT were on top of the timing sheets at Adria. This time however it was during qualifying which meant both cars will start tomorrow’s night race from the front of their classes.[…]
The temperatures hit the 30 degrees centigrade towards the end of the pre-qualifying session at Adria as the teams battled for the quickest lap times. As the temperature went up the times went down and one team after another went for that ultimate lap.
